Graphic problem-help!!!!!!!

I have nvidia 8400 GS. My problem was at begining that my screen got frozen and it got litle pink color... So I thougt It was because of corrupted driver. So I run my comp in safe mode, I deleted graphic driver and started comp and lines were gone. But while my computer was starting I noticed that in part while reading memory,(press del to enter bios XD) some yelow color showed on picture of producer of motherboard or whatever. However my comp turned and my screen wasnt frozen any more. But when I tried to install any graphic driver, it couldnt be installed or if it could my screen just get frozen again. 1 month later, my problem got litle bigger. Now when I start computer I can see vertical lines across bios, while installing new system, windows logo etc, and the worst thing my dysplay now sucks.. It is running on resolution 640x480 4 bit color and I can only change it on 860x640 with 4 bit color. Yelow vertical lines are still on my display. Sometimes this just stop to be broken and work for couple hours normaly until I reboot comp or turn off. Help pls, I have very low budget :(

Well, I cleaned dust from graphic card, unattached it couple times while I was doing that... Should I clean other components????

My best guess is your video card is dead. Based on your description (more or less works until you try to install drivers) that is the most likely scenario.
Are the artefacts uniform or more chaotic or something along those lines?

Anyways, try using a different graphics card... thankfully the 8400 GS is worth close to nothing, so replacing it isn't very costly.

If you used a vacuum to clean it, you may have fried the card.
Electronics don't like vacuum cleaners. It is like werevolves and vampires.
Always use some sort of compressed gas to blow dust off.

As Radiator said, replacing a 8400GS is pretty easy on the wallet.

Yea, maybe the best option is to replace it... I see now that this problem cant be fixed, but had to try :D... I used vacum cleaner once, long time ago, maybe that is the problem, but I dont remember had I done that after of before this problem...

To be honest, that's not a system I'd consider wasting ANY money on.
Still, you could get yourself a HD 6450, they cost next to nothing and are better than your old 8400GS.
I am assuming the 8400 GS was a PCI-e card and your system takes PCI-e cards.

Basically the problem with cleaning your PC with a vaccuum cleaner is with static electricity, not all that difficult to fry PC components with that.

I had pretty much the same issue with an old X300.
When i installed the driver, the card went nuts, displayed awful colors then
froze the screen.

I visualy inspected the card and found that a capacitor (chinese crap) was dying. I replaced it with a new one (a Nichicon HM) and the problems disappeared.
