This maybe a stupid question, but can someone tell me if a PCI slot is different from PCI express slot ?

Yes, they're very different. PCIi-Express is the most current interface for graphics cards.
We usually refer to PCI-Express as PCI-E, not PCI-X, just for future reference.

That's a little thing Mike wrote about interfaces.

Thanks for the reply and help.

One more question , I am looking to upgrade to a PCI-e video card, but MB does not have a PCI-e slot. Any subjestions on a good MB that will work with a P4 socket 775 ? Wanting to do both upgrades of MB, and PCI-e GPU for under $300.00 if prossible.

Ok, I'm no Intel mobo expert, but uhh lemme see. I'm going to max your budget, but if you tell us what you want the GPU for we can try to find the best one for the best price. Otherwise I'll just be looking for the most general performance for your budget.

Here, I'll just recommend a video card actually, someone else will have to help with the motherboard, with my like I'll screw it up ;)

$145-160 (MIR)

Otherwise I recommend getting a 7900GT, but that's a big jump up, although you might be able to find one on sale in the low $200s, and then get a mobo.
