yah, so they're wrong...a lot. They're reporting the x1950xt though, which they say is about 7% faster, and should be released next month.

We've been hearing about an 80nm version of R580 for a while now...so this probably isn't too far off...I'm more interested to see if they can get the heat and noise under control than I am interested in a 7% performance boost...

What? You don't like the graphics version of the hog? The article over there mentions a new cooler, but I'm thinking they're just making guesses at what's most likely.

The Inq is, for the most part, completely retarded. I'm quite sure they know absolutely nothing about computers...all they know how to do is stir up rumors. Did you see the one yesterday about the two screen shots showing poor image quality for nvidia when it was a super obvious photoshop job?

I read it every day pretty much, just for fun. Their strategy is just keep guessing until you get it right. I'd say they're above average in computer knowledge...that is of course, above the every day person walking down the street. Anyone who wants real computer news should stick to sites like Anandtech. How can you resist the tabloids though?
Is it just me, or do they hate the ps3?

They hate whatever brings the most people to their site...

Inq is obsessed with the Nintendo Wii, heh. Here are some recent articles about the PS3...
PS3 hardware slow and broken (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=32171)
More problems beset the PS3 (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=32343)
Sony Playstation 3 is far from complete (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=30931)
Sony faces Wii backsplash (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33133)
Sony patents 'Wii-like' controller (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33168)
That place is like a train wreck...I don't want to stare, but I can't stop looking. Their "reporting" is awful, they have more of an agenda than the NY Times and the BBC, and instead of manipulating the truth, they tend to just make up news.
I think it has something to do with all other real sites that report graphics news are held down so tight by NDAs that it's just reading a whole bunch of reviews on the day that the NDA is lifted. I don't have the patience (at least not at work) to wait so long! So I guess it's not the speculation... It's just the poor, biased, and often made up reporting that the Inq does. It's more like the blog of someone who has the tiniest bit more inside information than a random poster posting the same thing on a GPU forum. That said, the Inq is not blocked at work, and most forums (not this one, whee) are blocked...
Edit: Better analogy.
