Having problems on a rig I built. XP Pro (SP3) Intel Core 2 DUO E7500@2.93GHZ, Gigabyte mobo, 4GB OZR mem, WD3200 (320GB), Antec Tower w/7 fans, 24x DVD-RW, Logitech VX220 mouse/kybd, Acer 23" dual DVI/VGA

Installed GTX 295 duo for folding. Set up as running on GPU client, as a service, from F@H Stanford. As a pancreatic cancer survivor I feel like the more rigs I build for folding proteins, the more I give back.

Downloaded FahMon client, downloaded EVGA Precision (works great on nVidia cards ) Don't do a lot of OC, just starting.

For example, the single GTS 250 in this rig is getting around 5K PPD. The 295 is geting,,,,are you ready,,,? 168.2 PPD

All diags run well. Card is just sloooow.

Questions? Suggestions? What have I left out? I am a newb here but I am not a noob,,,:)

Time's a wastin'. Help please.

Thanks, and glad to be here. I can contribute in the networking arena and general computing so I look forward to helping.

hmm thats a weird one

did you contact the folding at home team yet ?

i had found some info

you have to specify which gpu to run on
otherwise it won't work

you can run folding at home on both cores apparently
but separately

Oh yeah, there are 4 or 5 guru's that have exhausted their reportoire. And setup went well. I had great instruction from the documentation at F@H where I pulled down the config file, -GPU0 for Core 1 and -GPU1. But when you get down to Machine ID you use 2 for -GPU0 and 3 for -GPU1, Machine ID 1 is reserved for the CPU.

Using EVGA Precision I reset everything that I had experimented with to default. But FahMon tells the story, the cores are only pulling like 182.2 PPD whereas the GTS 250 in this rig is pulling 5200 PPD w/no OC.

Thanks for the response.

So it went up from 168.2 to 182.2 after setting it up to use the correct core or after setting it back to default clocks???

Have you tried disabling the GTS250?

I'd say try disabling everything not running on the GTX295 just as genera troubleshooting step. Also, have you tried running anything but F@H on the card? Say, a game or a graphics benchmark for example?

I haven't done F@H for quite a while and I didn't get the GPU client set up (when I was folding I was using a pair of 7600GTs in my rig) so I'm just going to treat this like any other graphics problem.
