Hey, I want to slightly overclock my Nvidia Gtx 295 to squeeze out some more performance.
I need to know two things...
1. What would be best STABLE clocks? Currently I am at 576 core clock, 1242shader clock (shader is linked to core clock), and 999 memory clock. Btw the clocks don't have to be record breaking overclocks.
2. Would those clocks be safe and stable with my 650 watt Corsair PSU?
Please answer if you got time, thanks :D

I don't know your specs. But i guess most likely it can be overclocked to around 127.5%, if my crap card that oems specially ordered to be crap can do 127.5%. Your card can, i have no prob i guess
Lycos, you've got a GTX295??? I thought you were asking about an OEM 8600?
Anyway, stable overclocks are going to vary. Bump up the core clock to 590 or so and then bump it up in 5mhz increments and stress test for about half an hour after every increment. Fallout 3 seems to reveal unstable overclocks pretty quick so you can use that at maxed settings if you've got it. You can also use rthdribl or furmark to stress test.
I'd assume that you won't be able to get much of an OC out of a GTX295 since it's such a heater already.

Alright thanks, but will my 650watt PSU be able to handle any oc's?

the question is will you notice any performance leaps?
unless you are running the main screen of the 1701-E what is the point?

I know this is LONG OVERDUE but... I was busy and stuff.
I got around to overclocking my card and found the most stable overclocks while keeping under 85C.
My GTX 295 clocks are now:
Core: 691 MHz
Shader: 1489 MHz
Memory: 1260 MHz
100% fan speed (Don't care about noise)
Im pretty happy with these clocks as I can safely say that I gained 10 - 15 frames in each game.
That is some nice overclocking on a dual GPU card. I'm impressed.
Good job on that, can you give us some more specific benchies before OC and after?

unless you are running the main screen of the [NCC] 1701-E what is the point?
if you are going from 15 frames to 30 frames in games i can see why you would want to overclock
but if you are going from 80 to 95 or something like that, what is the point? Your eyes can see at best 60-65 Hz aka 60-65 frames per second.
why stress an already hot card
