I'm running an GeForce GTX 275 on a MSI K9N2 Diamond motherboard that has an Nvidia nForce 980a/780a SLI listed as a display adapter in the device manager.

Can I disable it without any adverse effects? Or am I better off leaving it as is?

Also, my monitor is connected to the 275.

ya you probably can

just go into your bios

and turn off the onboard video controller

its not really hurting anything either
be taking some (like small amount of) system memory and some extra power

Where exactly might I find it in the BIOS? Is that the same as disabling it in the device manager?

well its in the black startup screen when you turn on the computer

you usually have to hit either one of the keys below
Esc
F10
F1
F2

to enter the bios
(it will usually say on the bottom of the screen what to hit to enter bios)

then you'll have to look through the screens
for "integrated video" and turn it off

then save and exit

Thank you, I found it soon after posting. It was labeled in a strange way but I figured it out and got over 300 mb of my RAM back.
