So... the big news...

The unveiling of the part...

I haven't seen the actual statement from nvidia admitting it, but there are now multiple sites reporting that they've had confirmation that the board shown was a mock-up from Nvidia. I'm not saying that the demo isn't real, but it is sort of sneaky that they would make a mock-up of a card.

Thoughts?

well they could have held up a two x four really

it wasn't plugged into anything

and really if just talking about it....then whatever

really a stupid move on their part
just makes ppl respect them less

maybe not enough to make ppl stop buying their products

but they've been pulling a lot of sh!t lately

knowing about the heat issues in their cards, yet putting them out there
and when they start failing...oh yeah we knew....

it would be like an auto maker putting cars out there
that had brakes failing...."oh yeah we knew"....

i forgot the other part

auto companies have "mock up cars" before the final production

but they do at least say this is the pre-release/non-functioning car

Yes it is, but the news about it isn't particularly good, they made a mock-up of the card and showed it as the real thing at a conference then tried to hide the fact that it was a fake.

@ultima: you know, it's funny, I've always sort of thought of the computer industry as an analogue to the automobile industry. You've got giants like Intel and Nvidia where you would have GM or Ford. You've got parts made all over the world to a single standard for each component... and you've got mock ups when you're desperate for good press.
