Rage3D has done it. They found the first DirectX 10.1 game and they have tested said game with a HD 2900 XT and a HD 3870 X2. Want to know what game it is? You'll have to read the article to find out!
Here is a statement from an ATI employee that confirms Rage3D's discovery:
"...In this instance our developer relations team worked directly with the developer and found an area of code that could be executed more optimally under DX10.1 operation, thus benefiting the ATI Radeon HD 3000 Series."
UPDATE:
Ubisoft is removing the DirectX 10.1 support from Assassin's Creed! lolz!

Assassin's Creed takes advantage of Direct X 10.1 and it shows about 20% in AA performance and better AA quality.

The only problem here is how much horsepower it takes to turn on anti aliasing, even with this effeciency increase.

though what i don't like...
the testing method (comparison section) is.. well.. flawed...
they used a 2900XT for comparison...
a comparison of AA levels and performance
...
they used a card which CANNOT DO AA... so IF it got a performance boost in sp1 other than dx 10.1, it probably still wouldn't show up due to.. sucking so much at what they wanted to see.. lol. i'd like to see a comparison with an 8800/9800 nvidia (even though i know the results would be .. the same lol as it IS the dx10.1, a professional review site should have thought of this... i'm guessing they do ATI only?).
and as it's been confirmed.... well...thats pretty awesome, something that will truly improve both performance AND image quality, almost unheard of haha

"Ubisoft plans to release a patch for the PC version of Assassin's Creed that addresses the majority of issues reported by fans. In addition to addressing reported glitches, the patch will remove support for DX10.1, since we need to rework its implementation. The performance gains seen by players who are currently playing Assassin's Creed with a DX10.1 graphics card are in large part due to the fact that our implementation removes a render pass during post-effect which is costly."

it's not implemented correctly, the performance increase shoulsn't exist. lol.

Anyway ,
apparently the performance increase was in the cost of texture quality
( overall , when playing , it'll still look better with the AA , if you
are about 10 CM away from your monitor ... if not , neither of them
will make a huge difference visually... well... not any noticeable
difference anyway ) .
I sure remember posting this before Flinchy posted his second post... and before wyz135 posted his previous post... wtf?

By the way, I remember posting before Kwipper. Oddly enough he posted before me.
The Progenitor
No, the performance increase was intentional, but the glitches and bugs in the game were not intentional and those were happening because of DirectX 10.1.
