Early 9800 GX2 test results.

TweakTown got a 9800 GX2 sent to them annonymously and put it to work. It looks like it out performs the 3870 X2 in everything except HL2 Episode 2. Enjoy.

The Radeon HD3870 X2 is at total advantage at high resolution but totally crap out to 9800GX2 in low resolution, funny card though

Hmmm Finally! Some good stuff. Not bad I guess but not the greatest. They need a new driver to see if it will actually do good. I must play the waiting game!

As soon as I get an SLi bridge that I can put over my HR-03, I'll see just how far my 8800 GTS 512 SLi build can trash the 9800 GX2, and feel good that I didn't wait :D

Holy shit, is that ever disappointing. It's only marginally better than the 8800 GT and in some cases the 9800GX2 is beaten by the ATI 3870 X2.

What the hell is wrong with Nvidia?

I think it should get better results as new drivers are released. Theoretically it should be faster than the Ati X2 because an 8800 core is faster than a 3870 core; it all comes down to the software with these X2 cards.

But yeah, what the hell is wrong with nvidia? This thing barely faster than an HD3870X2 which is barely faster than an 8800 Ultra. So they've taken two cores to get pretty much the same performance as an ultra which has just one core. Whats the point?

What a disappointment ...
Outperforms in everything but HL2 my ass , it barely keeps up with the HD 3870 X2 , and in only a few games it actually beats it with a REAL difference . You can't really call a 2 FPS difference absolute beating , now can you ?

One can clearly see the ATI fans vs. the Nvidia fans.

The only thing I know is that my EVGA 8800 Ultra KO kicks some ass!

Well newer reviews are up on Anandtech and Hothardware, and the 9800GX2 quite frankly pwns everything. I guess that tweaktown article was a little premature after all.
