Buggy AMD software may have let defective cards reach shelves.

Apparently there are many HD 2400 and HD 2600 chips with BIOS problems due some buggy AMD diagnostic and validation software. The issue has been encountered by makers like ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte and one company has already recalled 20,000-30,000 units so far. Most of these defective units are either already in the "channel" or already on their way back to the makers. Apparently very few defective chips are on video cards that are currently in the hands of customers (Maybe that's because few people have purchased a HD 2400 or HD 2600. Ooo burn!). DigiTimes has any additional information that you may require.

In trouble and they screw up again. Badly.

*sound of plane in uncontrolled dive* *sound of explosion*

That's what's happening right now.

Yeh, if I could just get someone to donate 1,000,000,000 dollars to AMD, that would be great, Thanks.

I am currently building a pc with a HD2400 by powercolor, and it will not go into 16X mode.. it always runs at 1X on my P5B deluxe, even after i tried all kinds of things like changing the PCIE from 100Mhz to 103mhz as was stated in asus forum.

Does this have anything to do with the recall? How can i find out if my vid card is defective?

hey dancob if your still having the problem you could try underclocking the 2600xt significantly and/or re install the latest drivers if the artifacts are still occurring it would be best to RMA it
