Little problem there... it's a DX10.1 | SM4.1 compliant GPU.

HD 3870 IS better than the HD 2900 XT in the majority of applications .

It also has half of the R600's TDP while performing better than the 2900XT, like radiator said.

Excelent GPU, what the R600 was supposed to be when it was released (in the n° of chips per wafer and energy consumption, I think).

I have a 3870, and it's cool! This card really kicked nVidia's 8800 ass. Look! Here is the 3870 x2. That cards can connect via crossfire, so we become 4x or 6x performance than the 8800GTX. That's sounds cool. Just not cheap :). So how can run the crysis with those cards and with a good configuration? :)

And sorry for my bad english. I now learning it! :)

My card, has the RV670PRO , and we tested it against the 3870 rv670 and , the pro chip wins for a very good amount, rare cards comes with rv670pro , if you got one, you are lucky ;)

sorry man, but the rv670 comes in 2 varieties. 670XT and 670PRO.

The 670PRO is clocked lower and consumes less power. That's the only difference.

It should perform below average not above. What were you testing for?

@Striderzorness - I think you posted that in the wrong section .
As for mr. anonymous ... is your card overclocked... and was the HD 3870 working properly ?
The HD 3850 cannot outperform the HD 3870 , because they are based on the same chip and the HD 3870 is clocked significantly higher .
