There are conflicting reports on the number of transistors in this chip. Some places say 700 million, but I've heard from other sources that it's closer to 720.

The R600 has 512bit memory bus not 384 bit .

too wattage, too heat, poor speed ingame versus nVidia 8800Ultra. Then it's puke

This chip has the most advanced and complete DX10 implementation on the market, but it has also a broken Multi Sampling Hardware units which makes the chip to resolve Anti Aliasing on hardware which incurrs in a huge performance hit, this card is to compete with the 8800GTS which do nicely most of the time. Probably if the MSAA units worked, this could be the fastest DX10 card.

ive been very happy with my sapphire hd2900xt 512mb its very fast and not too loud or hot (48-50c idle and about 80c max in games). ive been playing bioshock and i average between 80 and 110 frames per second at 1152 x 864 resolution with all options maxed. i will admit i did have to get a new psu to be sure i could run it safely but its only a 610 watt, albeit the pc p and c silencer 610 with 49 amps on the 12 volt. but overall i've been very happy with my choice.

And why does it have broken MSAA hardware units ? When games force it to use it's shader processors to do antialiasing , then it is faster than the 8800 GTX .
Also , without AA , it is faster than the GTX .

Is that confirmed ? No , it's not . There will be no additions to the high-end series from nVidia this year .

The RV670 is coming... which is R600 on 55nm. The very same GPU, but with less than half of its TDP.

Exciting... I'd like to see how far it overclocks. Come on.. I can't wait for it to be released!
