ATI launches the sub $100 HD 5670.

There is now a sub $100 5,000 series video card available from ATI. According to the press release, a single HD 5670 has enough power to allow gaming on three displays using Eyefinity. If true, that is amazing. I will need to find a review that tests that assertion before I accept it as fact.

This release has occured at a very inconvenient time for me so I will not have enough time to get the necessary work done until Saturday. Perhaps by then there will be more than one HD 5670 model for sale on Newegg.

Can't wait to see how this card measures up. A legit sub $100 giant killer? How different is this card compared to a 5700?

It's somewhat slower than a HD 5770 .
Anyhow , the only MAJOR flaw on it is the tiny piece of crap cooler .

Gaming on three displays but with 10 fps... it is similar to a HD 4830.

HardOCP has a review with a HD5750 and Nvidia GT240. Conclusion: Much better all around over the 240 and slightler slower than the 5750. DX11 support is a push at the moment.

It's $100 right now... but in a couple of weeks these should be $75-80! Then what you have is a card with every new/latest features and technology that massacres a GT240 GDDR5 O.C., cuts-down the 9600GT and spars with a 9800GT. Now the "reality & truth" blow ... it can be all done using any stock OEM 350W PSU (heck even some 300W PSU are fine). All those with Dull Inspiron 530 with Q6600 chips now can game on a 1600x with nothing more than a plug and play. I mean this how the graphic card bid-'neth... is suppose to work!

Sure guys said they could run there 9800GT work with a desent 350W, but how smart was that? I mean this thing will get you on it heals or sometimes better it, with almost half the watts in at average/peak, while 60 less watts at Maximum... that's huge! The only down side is the Idle power consumption, it looks to be double of the 4670's 11W and in some charts even somtimes slightly more than 5850 and 4770. Whats' up with that?

Then as to the reference style cooler it was said to be a good low noise cooler considering it a one slot affair, also there are plenty AFTm coolers to pick from!.

This is why Tom%u2019s no longer carries any credibility when it comes to graphics hardware. Read both of Don Woligroski articles GT240/5670 and tell me there isn%u2019t jaundice, craftily distorted writing and just plan bias. And has the audacity to complain about 5670 released price, when he said the GT240 was %u201Cgood news for the consumer%u201D http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gt-240,2475.html http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-5670,2533.html On the LfD B-M page he said %u201CAgain, the GeForce 9800 GT is beating the Radeon HD 5670 by a slim margin.%u201D But then on the page testing with AA/AF it sure looks like a dead heat! Then look at what that GV-NX88T512 (not under-clocked) did in the AA/AF results (1680x)on his GT240 and something strange it came up lower than the supposed %u201Cstock%u201D 9800GT? All on the same Intel Core i7-920 Overclocked to 3.06 GHz. Sad.

Nice card if you are on a budget. The 4850 is a better buy. I am more interested in the 5830 which is going to be out by the end of this month. Now I predict that card will be a hit. Has anyone else heard anything about this card. Looks like a winner to me.

The more reviews I see, the more I like this HD5670. Very low power requirements and very nice results with modest settings.

It's only got 400 SP's. It's half of a 5770/4870. It's about as good as the HD 2900XT, if anyone here remembers.
And for sub 100$, it's nice. But personally, the GT 240 is better. Why? Because it folds.

If I'm serious about folding and saving the world there are definitely better folds per watt cards and the GT240 isn't.

Something that's is not being overly touted is the 5760 provides (and 5000 Series) is, Pre 1.3 HDMI, TrueHD & DTS-MA which means you won't need to buy an expensive Xonar card anymore if your receiver/equipment supports such formats, which almost any good new stuff can.

The GT240 is better because it folds? (frogs croaking in distance) No one cares about that aspect when buying a $100 card.
Weer, you seriously want to compare a discontinued HD2900XT to the HD5670? Power consumption alone is a joke. 215w max to only 61w max and takes up two slots. no thanks. Leave your reviews hidden on a blog.

Woah there, Mach. Hold the breaks on the negativity express.(train comes to a halt with metallic sparkly sounds)
It is just as ridiculous to claim that the 100$ market segment has nothing to do with folding as it is to claim that lower power consumption could POSSIBLY justify releasing an equally performing card two-and-a-half years later.
Leave my reviews on a hidden blog? Wow, I either want to caress that broken heart of yours or take a whack at it with a hammer.
Shut up and pay respect, boy! Mocking people's words to glorify yourself is unfathomably pointless. I know more than you can imagine, I can debate you under the table. If I ever say anything wrong, you trying to take advantage of it is seriously pathetic.
Unless the number 5670 holds certain special meaning to you (maybe your wife's metric weight).. in which case, I am truly sorry. God, toying with kids makes me feel younger again.

Its a great card for 80E its like a 9600gt with DX11.
Tuesday, January 26, 2010 8:49:18 PM
Perhaps the most attaractive feature of this card is the absence of a necessary external power source.

This can find home for 'the mass' people that want a decent video card for gaming without having to upgrade their crap PSUs on their OEM prebuits.

wow Weer got his undies in a bunch...figures.such posturing ..here's a tip.
Be constructive and go "fold" your own clothes instead of your momma for once.
