ATI is once again the king of graphics card hill!

It has been a long coming, but ATI is finally back on top! This has not happened since ATI was owned by ATI... Say hello to the Radeon HD 4870 X2!

While I make the rounds and add the cards to the database you guys can whet your appetite on this small list of reviews. I would also like to point out this benchmark graph I found on ATI's HD 4870 X2 page. It shows that the HD 4870 X2 is 1.3 to 2.2 times something more than the GTX 280 in some popular games. It could be temperature, FPS, noise or even calorie content since they did not label their Y axis.

I have to admit that Powercolor one does look pretty hot.

Awesome. It's about time ATI come up with something that beats nVidia's flagship models. The last time I saw this happen was when the X1950XTX beat the GeForce 7 series (excluding the 7950GX2). Brilliant stuff ATI! Keep up the great work!

Nice card but over kill and you don't get a good return for your money. Better off with a midrange card.

Not a single review that tests Catalyst 8.8 and Crysis at very high both at the same time ... :| .

@Naito If you are going to consider this card as a contender to the GTX280 then you need to consider the 7950GX2 as a contender to the X1950XTX. They are both multi-GPU setups going up against single cards. And with the current prices this one loses in the price/performance market (GTX280 for ~$450, HD4870X2 for ~560 from reputable brands). Overall a nice (if not huge) card, and glad to see ATI with something in the enthusiast market again, even if it is a multi-GPU setup.

This is only applicable since this card just launched and hasnt dropped in price yet but...
Its weird to ever think of the GTX 280 as actually better price performance wise.

Once this drops in price that may change.

@SpacemanSpiff Thanks for the correction. Next time I should think it through a bit more.

@Spaceman - The GX2 was two cards slapped together , not one card , there is a difference .
And also , the X1950 XTX was cheaper , than a 7900 GTX , let alone a GX2 , it all comes down to the price , in terms of what card is competing what .
450 USD for a GTX280 is riddiculous... it actually costs more , if not as much to MAKE that card , as far as I know .
