I guess yesterday was a day for love and a day for launching some midrange graphics cards. I would have posted about it yesterday but I was too busy getting some lovin'.
Well anyway, the HD 7770 and the HD 7750 are here and they are... okay I guess. I say that because the HD 6850 is more powerful than the HD 7770, and it costs less. The HD 7750 is only a little cheaper than the HD 5770 and the GTX 550 Ti and it's lower performance matches the price difference.
Here is MSI's overclocked HD 7770.

It's like the 5770 release all over, bested the 4850, but short of 4870 and the same complaints of price. Remember, that was after a very bloody battle with GTS250 and GTX260. Actually I don't know why, but AMD really lower prices on 6850/70 when they really had no reason. Then there is drivers... just like 5770 was inproved, considering this new CoreNext architecture drivers have lots of room to mature.
I really like the 7750, a darling entry gamer low power (supplanting the 6670 DDR5). The 7770 reference feels a little short and general OC level is oh hum, although the Super OC (1120 MHz) is about where I figured and the price is better than what I estimated as Egg had it as $180 no rebate. Buying a nice custom unit in several weeks for $130 and OC'n it yourself for a gain of 16-18% is a BfB... Because face it find a 6870 for less than $150 just disappeared!
