This card doesn`t bear too much clock - about 12% /core or RAM/, after that it begins artifacting and crashing!
I have a Sapphire brand of it and it has very noisy cooling... but after all it is good choise for my AGP slot. :)

Not a bad card, source games still look really good and have high frame rates. Not really all that noisy.

I'm still useing my old 9800 Pro, no dual core CPU, no DDR2 yet and I don't want to spend $700 yet to upgrade my whole setup...would this be my best bet to keep my AGP 4X/8X Mobo for anther few years?

no, the 9800 pro is on par if not better then this card. Keep it. The old dif is SM3.0 support.

Bought Sapphire X1650pro AGP. Impressive. Get ATI Tray tools to monitor temps and overclock. I have been running BF2 maxed @1280X1024 without problems. Getting 30 FPS. Bogs down a little when the action gets real heavy but game play is very smooth. FEAR runs great maxed out as well. Same slow-down when action gets very heavy. Use Catalyst drivers 8.1. Great for upgrading your AGP rig to give it another year or so.

This is a great card.. i have one from ATI RADEON, and it have very bad temps (arround 60° in idle) later i buy an aftermarket cooling from zalman (vf1000 LED) and the temps down immediately.. (around 30°c in idle and 50°c in load), i play even GTA4 with this card, whit full Catalyst core overclock.. the riva tuner don't work property for this card.. it crash..
