Isn't this supposed to be at 55nm , not just with one extra cluster enabled ?
Thursday, August 28, 2008 8:58:54 AM
@Radiator. I second that!

I think the 260GTX is going to test the HD4870 but the price tag may be stupid.

They would release a 55nm 280GTX(260=defective ones) if that happened it's just like a 8800GTS 112 no difference just unlocking.

Well , the 112 shader processor 8800 GTS actually recieved a decent boost , but they were few in numbers .

GT200 appears to respond better to clock speed increases than to inceased shader counts.

EDIT: I find it really ridiculous how even large websites will buy into fanboyism. You look at the HardOCP article on this, and then the Anandtech one and somehow in the Anandtech article the 4870 has magically higher framerates, but just enough to still win versus this new version.

This is still a 65nm process. BFG made a mistake.

The price tag better be good

I'm not too convinced about this as of right now
Wednesday, September 17, 2008 1:47:44 AM
In the Anandtech article they used a standard card, in HARDOCP the used a BFG OC version if i recall correctly, so there´s the diference in performance, what´s really amazing is the OC reached bye the card over 25% core speed O.o

@Headfoot - lazy anandtech boys used very old driver versions (catalyst 8.7 , and some older nVidia drivers aswell , as I recall ) .
Imo the only ones somewhat worth it are the factory OCed ones .
NVidia sure has an uber naming scheme >.> .

Ah that would explain the discrepancy very well, wouldn't it? :)

I reckon once released, nVidia should name these the GTX265.

A lot better than what they did with the 8800GTS (112)

I hear that this card in quad SLI will run crysis in Very High in 80 FPS

That's Insane!

At 1280x1024 maybe , but not at resolutions where you'd need 3xSLi . However , you CAN get 60 FPS on a GTX280 3xSLi at 1920x1200 and no AA .

This card has a funky name GTX260 (216) they should shapen up there name like calling this GTX260X
Monday, November 03, 2008 7:14:17 AM
The name probably means Nvidia never put out a Manufacturers Suggested Name so all AIB partners name it whatever they want (GTX260 ,OCX Maxcore,Gold,AMP^2,Core 216 Superclocked, etc.)
Monday, January 05, 2009 4:22:41 AM
galaxy GTX260 OC now more cheaper than overclock ver of Ati HD4870 :) beside that GTX260 have more performance :( but generated much more heat and needed more power
