The infamous FX 5800 Ultra. In a desperate attempt to keep up with ATi's very impressive Radeon 9700 Pro, nVidia clocked this card to an as-yet unseen 500Mhz on both the core and the memory. The cooling solution was so absurdly loud the card was nicknamed the "dust-buster". The achilles heel of this card was its 128 bit memory bus (the 9700 Pro used 256 bit). The card had an extremely short lifespan and was replaced by the 5900 Ultra before it became available in any quantity.

I found one of these laying around my school and decided to give it a whirl to see how loud the fan really is. I held out for 10 minutes before it drove me nuts. Damn that thing is loud.

Not to mention its HORRIBLE DX9 performance, which improved notoriously on NV35, but still failed to the 9800XT.

I swear, this card was just a rehashed rush-job of the GF4. What a pile of trash.
