So, it's a re-badged 8800GS, with slightly faster core and shader clocks, but a slower memory clock. Yay!

the specs are lower than 9600gt but with 96SPs.shouldt it be faster or slower than 9600gt??

im curious as to whether or not this card will be driver limited to 680mhz like 8800gs. it was possible to get past the driver limitation with a bios mod, but it wasnt able to get much farther than 700mhz. i never saw anyone get any farther anyways

I prefer it to be called 9600GS instead of GSO....

wouldn't the slower memory clock speed affect its performance compared to that of a 8800GS?

somebody can tell me the difference between names like GT,GS,GSO,GX its a standard for nvida cards, but which one is better than the other? looks like gt>gs

is it just me or does both 9600GSO & 8800GS have the same Spec's.whats the point of buying either one of them, buy the cheapest one and get it over with. i hope the Spec's will change or i don't see the point of buying a 9600GSO, when it's the same as a 8800GS.

@ArmyMen.Yeah.I agree with you.Nvidia introduce "new" card just to fill up Geforce9 generation while waiting to launch their GeForceX(10).They don't even bother to compete with ATI gpu lineup.

same problem here... its lyk there is no point comparing both if they have identical specs!

same spec's just like the 8800GS........what a joke. guess we all better start planting them Money tree's, just to keep up with all the Video card Wars. Funny part is, all the new 8800 cards have the same chips, just like the new 9000 series cards ( G92 ). either Nvidia is keep on correcting them selfs of there mistakes or we are all in the Twilight Zone.

Twilight zone FTW!

This card is failure, just like everything in the 9 series except for the 9600GT.

c'mon, ATI! Give NV something to compete against... PLEASE... we're all tired of failure from both companies.

I agree with Rupdog.... the card is rly cool... u don't need a 4870 x2 or gtx 280 :( u can play any game atm with this baby at 1024x768 maybe with a liltle AA and AF :P but its a rly good card, got the extreme edition from Leadtek :D

Awesome card best bang for buck IMHO even though I didn't buy it at Newegg's $50 after rebate price(I don't live in the USA)even at Php3,750 it's a steal( to be fair GPU's prices are higher than Newegg generally/ the 8600GT still cost Php3,000 lol.)

Still don't know what people hate so much about renaming as I see it the newbs won't get so confused and buy a lowend card just because of its higher number(8800GS label for this is a rare sight)

They are apparently replacing this with a 48(64)G94 and preserving the 256bit bus. http://arstechnica.com/journals/hardware.ars/2008/10/09/nvidia-changes-9600gso-again

Meh I think it would fail compared to the 8800GS which easily outdoes or matches the 9600GT for low resolution gamers (1440x900 and lower)
