7600GT AGP took at least six months didn't it? And that was with a compatible HSI. The plan is probably to unload all those old G71's first at least (same as they did with bad G70's).

Yeh, the 7600's took 7 months after the launch of the 7800's. The AGP version of the 7600's came 13 months after the 7800's release. And they never created an AGP version of anything beside the 7800 GS - a very locked G70.. basicly a 6800.

The X1950XT AGP still faster overall, by a significant margin. Even though the GeCube version has a crippled memory frequency.

Correct.
But the memory clock in the details on its page here at GPUReview, shows "900 MHz (1800 DDR)". But that's for the PCI-e version.
It should be "700 MHz (1400 DDR)".
And core clock should be 648Mhz not 625Mhz.
Maybe all the other numbers are for the PCI-e version also.

A very detailed and good FAQ about the Gecube Radeon X1950 XT AGP is here : http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=283245
It's in German. But it has very good tips about switching off the Peltier to lower power consumption (temperature will go up max 10 degrees Celsius, yes that little.) or the opposite, improving performance of the Peltier, or replacing the whole original cooling system with a ZEROtherm GX815 Gamers Edition, etc.

Cheers,
Robert

Translated by me from that German forum page :
WITHOUT Peltier!:
Idle: about 150 Watt
3D: up to 265 Watt
So very common results, like with the X1950XT for PCI-Express Systems!

WITH Peltier!:
Idle: about 225 Watt
3D: up to 360 Watt
These figures are enormous and that's why it makes sense to disconnect the Peltier!

Oops!
Forgot to mention that those Wattages are for a complete system.
They are NOT for the graphics card alone.
Measurement was done at the powerplug of the PC.
With something similar like this : http://www.p3international.com/products/special/P4400/P4400-CE.html

System specs that made up those wattages are :
Overclocked Pentium-M System: BeQuiet Dark Power Pro 430Watt, Pentium M-740 @2.4Ghz, Asus P4P800SE, 4x512MB DDR400 Crucial Ballistix 2-2-2-6, GeCube X1950XT AGP, 3xSata II Hitachi, X-Fi Xtreme Music, Sata Controller, LG-4163b, 2x120mm/2x80mm fan
