Are the pipes from the evga gs co superclock unlockable?

Since this is a 7 series card, the method used to lock the pipelines is non-reversible on ALL cards.

does it take up a PCI slot as well...?

The pictures in the reviews show it only taking the AGP slot, but mine hasn't arrived yet so I can't confirm that. It does blow hot air into the case rather than out of it, but from the temperatures given in the reviews it probably doesn't run hot enough for that to be a problem.

runs great. doesn t cover next pci slot, but I'd leave it blank. The BFG overclocks with coolbits easily to 460/1.35GHz. Looks and plays smooth and probably is overkill on my 3000 venice OC'd to 2.3 Ghz.

I'm ordering this as my last AGP graphic card!

I just ordered this card from newegg, it's arriving today so we'll see how it handles Oblivion. Oops, I forgot to mention I didn't just order a stock 7800GS, I ordered the EVGA CO Superclock (460Mhz, 1350 DDR).Fastest AGP card in existance right now, that is until EVGA releases the 7800GS KO Superclock. (490Mhz, 1400 DDR)

Leadtek 7800GS AGP OC to: 500 and 1400 with no problems at all ! i've been using these clocks for over a month.

I'd like to know if the card is noisy I like quiet cards. For example I thought the 9800pro was pretty noisy.

Well I doubt it will be much quieter than a 9800pro, unless the 9800pro you heard had a fan that was going bad.

Well I just got the card a 7800GS that is well it does make a bit more noise than a 9800pro afterall. Is it normal that highend cards make noise like this ? and no the card is not defective.

hmm... i saw a review of eVGA's superclocked card, they said it reached 520/1400 but was a bit unstable and then decreased it to 510/1370 and was absolutely okay !! my guess is eVGA is best choice concerning overclocking!! does anyone disagree ??

FYI - RE Leadtek 7800GS AGP - Same card here... Also OC'd to 500 Core and 1400 Mem with no probs for around 8 weeks. Temps around high 40's under full-load for over 30 minutes.

Gainward is offering you AGP lovers two versions with 512MB and a "silent" two slot fan. One is a Golden Sample+ (higher OC) and the other is a normal Golden Sample. According to their site the normal Golden Sample has 20 pipelines instead of just 16.

i heard somewhere that you can get an unlocked version of this card. was that a lie?

I have the nVIDIA Gainward 7800GS AGP 512MB which has the 24 pipelines. A good thing for AGP supporters I must say! There is no doubt that this is the fastest AGP card to date. Its secret is that it uses 7900 GT chip inside clocked at 450MHz core and 1250MHz memory. It has a fully functional 24 pipes. The gainward card has a 7800 GT core, not a 7900 GT. So it won't overclock like a 7900 GT. But that's still the fastest AGP card on the planet.

The newer Leadtek version (should be the inventory everywhere) has a 7900 (G71) core.

Where'd you hear about Leadtek having 7900 cores?

The Gainward 7800GS 512mb golden sample has the 7900 GPU and 24 functioning pipes. The Gainward 7800GS without the ( ) has the 7800GT core with 20 Full pipes.. this one I own and actually scores comparible to a 7800GTX PCIe.. at 200 quid from ebuyer it was a bargain to keep me AGP.

i have a sparkle 7800gs and with coolbits it overclocks to 480/ 1490 easy no problems pushes 3d mark score up by 3500 bench marks awsome agp card

I have a BFG 7800 GS OC. It works great most of the time, but DO NOT install the latest NVIDIA Drivers!!! You card will freak out. Trust me. I think the most current stable drivers are the 84.21 or 81.24 somthing like that. Also, if matters to anybody, Battlefield2 does not like the overclocked card. My framerates go good and bad.

So where can I find those drivers ?

I have the BFG 7800 gs oc, and i find that it artifacts in some games, until i max the settings and then the artifacting decreases, weird aye(?)

There seems to be some continuing problems with people's understanding of the Gainward Bliss 7800GS 512mb AGP model. This is NOT the "standard" 7800GS with a castrated 16 or 20-pipe 7800 core...

The Gainward Bliss 7800GS 512mb AGP (and ONLY this model) is a true G71 (aka 7900GT) core with *all* 24 pipes and 8 vertex shaders open from the factory. Stock clocks are also identical to the 7900GT at 450/1250. It comes equipped with the same 1.2ns GDDR3 Samsung memories found on the 7800GTX 512mb card.

So, to reiterate:
Gainward Bliss 7800GS 512mb AGP = *FULL* G71 core (7900GT)
All other 7800GS AGP parts = partially disabled G70 core (7800)

Guys, I have a AGP slot on my computer...atm I have ATI Radeon 9550...I dnt like it very much bcz when i max out all the settings in my games...they really slow down :( I've been told somewhere that the BFG nVidia GeForce 7800GS OC is the best AGP card available...is this true...it costs like nearly 200 pounds here in UK, and I dont want to make any mistakes...bcz its a heck alot of money...am i making the right choice...and tell me if my comp is compatible...I have...

For me the fastest video card for the AGP is the Gainward Bliss 7800GS (G71)(24pp)(8vp).... I overclocked it at 575mhz core and 1400mhz mem. clock.... with no problems or artifacts 49 deg. idle and 64deg. load at 100% fan speed (Edited the Bios)..... much faster than a reference GeForce 7950 GT..... :)

You have the wrong OS , that computer should be with Windows XP . And better get a 7600 GT AGP ( faster than the 7800 GS ) or a 7950GT AGP or 7900GS AGP .
Or you could always get a X1950 Pro AGP or X1950 XT AGP . You could get a HD 2600 XT AGP but it's a lot slower than the X1950 Pro or XT . However , it has DX10 support .
