Are you kidding me? It's on pricegrabber right now at over 2 dozen stores for $130...$175 is way overpriced.

I had a FX5600 256MB (non ultra) and wanted to upgrade. This card rocks for its price, i play Call Of Cthulhu and Toca Race Driver 3 with EVERYTHING maxed, and both games play smoothly at 1024x768. The problem i have is some artifacts in DirectX games, they were horrible with Omega drivers but with standard latest drivers from Nvidia the artifacts are almost gone. I also play Lineage II with everything maxed at 1280x1024. The diference in FPS with the FX5600 is brutal...And keep in mind also my processor is a 478 pentium 4 @ 2GHz, with more or less 3 years of life (100x4 MHz FSB) and my memory 768MB DDR2100.
So yeah, for the price i don't believe you can find something better than this. BTW my card has 256 MB. And one more thing, i don't thing the radeon x1600pro AGP is any better than this card, except for some specific games (like Oblivion). In DOOM3 or Toca3 this one blows the x1600 away.

i just got the EVGA e-GeForce 6600 GT and it was just the same as the x1300 until i overclocked it. Overclocking it made f.e.a.r. go from 20 frames a second(x1300) to a playable 35. The ati might of looked better but soo slow. I read a review that put the 6600gt over the x1600 also. I wish i tried the x1600 but i`m happy overall. The 128 makes f.e.a.r say i dont have enough memory if i max all the settings. It plays great at 10x7 and max most other stuff, most.

x1600pro is better in some places but also worse in places. and whoever said this card was like the x1300 you're wrong. I have the x1300pro and this thing is 2x as good.

This card is pretty damn awesome considering it didn't cost me my house. I also found it to be more productive using the Omega Drivers for this card instead of the standard NVIDIA ForceWare.
The only problem with it is that it's very noisy.

I had fx-5500, but now I bought 6600GT and i'm delighted! But, the noise is freaking me out. Is there some easy solution to reduce the noise? (fx-5500 is far more quiet)

great card, but I can't play FarCry on any other setting than low. With my previous card (fx-5500) I could play on medium. Why 6600gt is having problems with this game???

Updating to the latest Forceware drivers might be useful. 'Specially if the last time they were updated was when you bought that FX-5500. ;)
Lol this card is once again in the most popular cards list. I wonder why , the 7600 GT AGP is much better than this .

@Hardlife You can a 6600 GT in PCI Express or AGP. I would recommend either a 7600 GT AGP or a X1950 Pro AGP instead of the 6600 GT. Check out this page please: http://www.gpureview.com/superlatives.php

Other than the confusion it caused with its power requirements, this card rocked... till the 7600GT came.

This card was revolutionary for its time, really the first time the mid-range got a decent card. DX 9.0c, SM 3.0 and good performance all around for the current games (HL2, Doom3, etc.)

Even the lowly 7600GS is faster then this crappy card.
i'm glad i found this page to get real stats, mine is 6600gt agp just like the picture with the fan cover diagnal, it works good. but some day i want to change out everything to pci express in a shuttle box.
