7 days till the HD 5850 & 5870 arrive. Read some benchmarks while you wait!

DigiTimes wants us all to know that AMD will be releasing the HD 5850 and HD 5870 on September 22. One month later AMD will unleash the beast that will be known as 5870 X2.

While we wait for our planet to spin around a few more times, we can read some of these benchmarks. Here are the numbers for the HD 5850 vs the GTX 285, the HD 5870 vs GTX 295 and HD 5870 CrossFire vs GTX 295 SLI.

As Steve put it a while back...
"Are you suggesting that I (or we) are "teh biased"? I'll have you know that we are trying to convince AMD to send us some cards for review"
Man and you wonder why you didn't get to sign their NDA?
I'm thinking is AMD is smart waiting, trying to balance (till the last possible moment) releasing absolute information on the cards. This way the moles of Jen-Hsun Huang must continue to scramble before seeing how far they need to "up" their yet to be seen offerings.
All this is now the deception of counter-intelligence, it's all fun to read but I'm holding out for the legitimacy.

That's His Name so Don't Wear it Out!
Looks pretty promising! I read somewhere that AMD is trying to take the performance crown away from nVida with the 5000 generation. Wonder what nVida has up their sleeve (besides a smaller die & GDDR5)?

Guess we'll just have to wait (the typical thing).

ddr5 will help maybe 10-20%...may or not be enough.

Oh man I'm totally loving this stuff! Competition will make this next video card purchase oh so sweet. Considering a single gpu trades blows with a dual gpu design sitting at $500, granted the resolutions are absolutely ridiculous...sorry no offense to those of you that own a 2560x1600 30" monitor :) But seriously that gives quite an astonishing performance leap, especially depending on the price point.

DDR5 with a 512bit memory bus ... overkill .
As for the RV870 , all I can say for now is impressive , fairly cool too compared to the HD 4870/4850 ( with stock coolers at stock fan speed ) .

We'll Steve it' not linking of other site counter-esipionge or Nvidia manipulation? It's more the dreary yet derisive tone. Like we'll need to wait for the planet to spin, and wants use all to know... While then post below you have it titled as an "Eyefinity" write-up, but almost the whole thing is on Nvidia's 3D vision. As you gush with giddy prattle with words like awesome(x2), makes me salivate, it was cool. Then you finish saying... In other news... there is this... sounds pretty cool you guys. Color me excited and intrigued. It all reeks of a blatantly dissuade tone. I'm sure you don't concur, but just don't act as if AMD/ATI are the bad guys because they don't sponsor you with review materials. It sure seems your bed is made with emerald colored comforter...

My bed is red and black because those are my favorite colors. I will try to remember to post a picture of it for you. Also I am pretty sure that AMD/ATI are the bad guys (and ladies!) because they did kill my grandmother one night. They bludgeoned her with their powerful grpahics cards till she died.

Steve TMI - "they did kill my grandmother one night" fascinating, but not very humorous. Why was your grandma in your bed? Nice follow up with the next new write up... I can't help but feel like Nvidia is trying to attract some attention (and some dollars) with this stunt, you need to pull out the attention whore picture. Oh wait wasn't that on the picture of your bed? http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_5000_Leaks/1.html
