I still wonder whether the tables would have turned had 3DFX still been a player in the market. They opened the idea of SLI and multi GPU PCBs in 99, almost six years ahead of their time. I think the market today would have been phenomenally more advanced than it is now.

The market would not have been more advanced if 3dfx was still around. They sucked after the Voodoo2, and I think it's clear that after the release of the Voodoo 4, 5, and GeForce FX, they would have continued sucking had they not gone under. If anything, they would have killed the graphics card market.
